Retained Search & Selection

Retained recruitment is typically an exclusive arrangement, where we are the sole agency entrusted with your recruitment needs. Working on a retained basis allows us to dedicate more time and resources to building a tailored shortlist of candidates who best match your requirements. Unlike contingency-based recruitment, the retained model involves upfront costs. These are typically structured as a 30-30-40 split, with payments made at three stages: engagement, candidate representation, and the successful start of the placement.

How long does it take to recruit?

Here is a typical timeline:

  1. Initial Consultation & Role Briefing:
    After receiving the job brief, we take the time to understand the client’s needs, the role’s requirements, and the company culture.

  2. Sourcing Candidates:
    Once we have a clear understanding of the role, we begin sourcing candidates. This phase can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the role’s complexity and market demand. In some cases it can take several months for senior or bespoke positions.

  3. Screening & Shortlisting:
    We review CVs, conduct initial interviews, and assess candidates’ skills and suitability. Shortlisting candidates usually takes several days once candidates have been sourced. We will, in most cases, continue to source once a shortlist has been represented to you.

  4. Client Review & Interviews (7-14 days):
    After presenting the shortlist, we coordinate with clients for interviews. This step depends on the client’s availability and interview scheduling but we ask it takes a maximum of one week as shortlsied candidates will often have more than one opportunity. 

  5. Further interviews:
    Second and possibly third stage.
  6. Final Selection & Offer management (5-7 days):
    Once the interviews are complete, the client makes their final selection. We then handle offer management, including negotiations and securing the candidate’s acceptance.

  7. Resignation and notice management:
    We work with the candidate to make the transition as easy as possible. We keep in contact throughout their notice.

While this is an average timeline, the process can be faster for urgent or less complex roles, or it may take longer for senior-level or highly specialised positions.
