What is public practice finance and why is it important?

Accountancy practices (Public Practice) are the go-to companies when you start and run a business. It is the work of accountants who provide financial and accounting services to businesses, governments, individuals, and other organisations such as partnerships and charities. This work is important because it helps companies review and ensure money is spent and recorded correctly and efficiently.

Some things that public practice accountants compelte: Prepare accounts, Handle tax issues, Undertake audits, Provide specialist advice and support on financial and business matters, and review accounting practices to verify compliance with reporting standards and the law.

Public practice accountants can work for a variety of firms, including: Big Four, Mid-sized practices, Small high street practices, and Self-employed consultants.

The type of work a public practice accountant does can vary depending on the size, type, and location of the firm, as well as the services they offer.
How can we help you?

One of eps’s strengths is knowledge. Whether you are looking for a new position or a new team member we can provide relevant information on the market, what to expect and whether you need to tweak your expectations. This is something we find commonplace in public practice as the sector has changed incredibly since 2019 partly due to the pandemic but also because of the influx of investment which has undoubtedly made the sector more competitive.

Recruitment and retention is our goal and to make sure this occurs we must provide honest and relevant responses to your questions and requirements. Our aim is to create an efficient process allowing you to make that next move or hire with ease.

Location, for many, is important. Our team has a strong understanding of the areas in which they specialise. We feel this is incredibly important when choosing an opportunity or individual as a work-life balance is important to the success of both.

Our team will test technical skills whilst also looking at core competencies through our internal interview techniques, of which all the team have been trained. By doing this it means less time wasted by all parties as it allows us to match both individuals and employers together. We will also look to acquire transcripts as and when required.

Commercial Finance

The team at eps.recruitment all started their careers within commercial finance, sometimes called industry finance. With over twenty years of working with those in transactional finance through to those at board level, we can safely say we are experts in the area. Our commercial finance currently operates in the Northern Home Counties and Oxfordshire due to our specific knowledge of these areas and strong network. Our aim is to help you, your team and your business or employer grow and to do this, we need to find the best available individuals, employers and opportunities.

What is commercial finance and why is it important?

Commercial accounting, also known as industry or business accounting, is the process of recording, classifying, and summarising a business’s financial transactions to help management make informed decisions. It takes many forms from financial administration such as ledger management to complex financial analysis and reporting.

It differs from financial accounting, which focuses on producing financial statements for external stakeholders like investors and creditors. Commercial accounting is primarily used internally to provide insights into a company’s financial health and performance.

  • Decision-making: It provides financial data that helps managers make informed decisions about operations, investments, and overall strategy.
  • Performance evaluation: It tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the success of different business units and departments.
  • Cost control: It identifies cost-saving opportunities and helps allocate resources effectively.
  • Budgeting and forecasting: It aids in creating realistic budgets and financial forecasts for the future.
  • Risk management: It helps identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Commercial accounting is a powerful tool that empowers businesses to make data-driven decisions, improve efficiency, and achieve their financial goals

For those looking for their next move, we will consult and build a process to secure what you desire. Our aim is to make the process as efficient as possible whilst ensuring the right person lands in the right opportunity, which in turn enables growth and development for all parties.

Our team will test soft and technical skills whilst also looking at core competencies through our internal interview techniques, of which all the team have been trained. By doing this it means less time wasted by all parties as it allows us to match both individuals and employers together.

Office Support and Administration

Many of the team at eps have been based to work on Office Support vacancies over their years in recruitment due to their relationships with clients. Many businesses will ask whether we can cover something else due to our success in other areas, therefore if we can help, we will – even if it is just advertising the position for you – it is something we can support.

What is office support and why is it important?
Office support is a broad category of roles that are vital to a business’s success. It covers a huge range of opportunities within a business and much of the time the individuals are key to how the business runs, grows and succeeds.
  • Roles: Includes, but is not limited to, positions such as office manager, administrative assistant, sales support, customer service, data processing, general administration, purchasing and much much more. If you can think of a position within a business that is not specifically covered by a sector, it tends to fall under Office Support.
  • Importance: Office support is vital because it allows specialist teams to focus on their core competencies, which can lead to better service and quality.
Here are some other benefits of office support:
  • Efficiency: minimises delays and errors, which can lead to better overall performance
  • Productivity: reduces the teams’ workload, which can increase their efficiency and productivity
  • Customer satisfaction: ensures that orders are fulfilled accurately and on time, which can lead to better customer satisfaction
  • Data compliance and security: improves data compliance and security
  • Reporting and analytics: speeds up reporting and analytics

How can we help you?

We can support all levels of positions within office support, creating and putting into action plans to secure the right team member or opportunity. We will listen to your requirements and desires carefully and respond with reasoned options and alternatives as many of the skills within the sector are transferable meaning that sometimes the obvious option is unexpected and it is our job to make this clear.

Our team can test soft and technical skills whilst also looking at core competencies through our internal interview techniques, of which all the team have been trained. By doing this it means less time wasted by all parties as it allows us to match both individuals and employers together.

What type of positions do we recruit for?

We cant put an exahustive list of all the positions we could recruit for in this sector, but if you feel something fits into office support, then please call us and ask, 90% of the time we’ll be able to assist and in the rare time we cannot, we can advise you on who would be well placed to help.

In the past the team have recruited the following: Client Service Administrators and Managers, Office Managers, Sales Support, Account Managers, HSEC, General Administrators & Reception, Sales Progression plus much more.

Whats our history in this sector?

As with most recruiters, when we have a good relationship with a business we are asked ‘can you help with this’ and much of the time we can. Due to our competency based interview techniques we can assist with general vacncaices once we fully understand what you require and our team have done this time and again since they started in recruitment. Much of the time, its about matching a business with an individual and the technical skills will either already be there or can be picked up due to the individuals personality. What we have found is that matching two parties together in this field is not just about skills and experience, it is as much about who the parties are and making sure there is a correlation between the two.
